Can dreams predict the future?

There are many examples of dreams that seemed to predict future events. Some may have been due to coincidence, faulty memory, or an unconscious tying together of known information. A few laboratory studies have been conducted of predictive dreams, as well as clairvoyant and telepathic dreams, but the results were varied, as these kinds of dreams are difficult to study in a laboratory setting.

Do you think Dreams can predict the future ?

Answer by andy c
Yes. The Bible has many examples of this, in Genesis, Daniel and the Gospel of Matthew.

Answer by thisisnotdel
Yes, I do think they can.

I’ll tell you why.

I had a dream last year of a certain person I know among with unidentified few guys from Kendal Hill area, maybe one was Jason, but it was a blur. It was something about murder, jail, court. I had it about a year ago.

Guess what? It happened 2 months ago. And they’ve been in jail since.

Freaky, huh? Now, I had been having recurring dreams about them. Different settings, but same meaning: Getting released.

Can your dreams predict the future?

I’m sure we all agree our mind travels to the past often when we dream. So shouldn’t they be able to travel to the future also? Oh and do you know any examples in history or personal experience of dreams fortelling the future or giving someone a message about the future?

Dreams you see early morning only happen.
62 %of dreams give some hints regarding future
30% of dreams are based on past/experiences
    Rest is trash.

I dont know if are dreams..deja vu……or simple coincidences, but sometimes things happen.
I think that our mind is a perfect mistery, and we dont know all its potential yet.
If ……..as some scientists say, we are using only the 9% of its capacity…..well……can you imagine what the other 91 % would be able to do???
I know only one thing……and is the only thing that have happened to me as self experience.
Sometimes talking with someone i feel as i know what he/she will say….and it happens.
Same for some places.. I know, before arrive….how it will look like, and each time it happens, is very similar as how i thought.

I dont think that is prediction or clearvidence…………..even I have not a name for that……….but

    As the popular proverb says:
I dont believe in witches…..but that they exist……..exist!!

Ya, I believe that…I often have feelings of “deja vu” in real life….things that I have witnessed in my previous dreams

Well nope my dreams cannot predit the future, but sometimes i see things or talk things then it seems to be that i have done it before (De Ja Vous) Sorry but my french is bad :D,

and i really dont belive people who predict the future, because come to think of it, maybe a teller predicted, i can change it obviously by changing some events in my life ;) get me…

so nope i dont think that dreams can predict

oh certainly yes but not all dreams and to what extent that varies from person to person. i myself is a dreamer, many of my dreams would really come to pass literally. these dreams are not just for myself but for the people i know. i dont call it clairvoyance for as per my orientation i know where it is coming from. it is a gift based on God’s calling in my life. such enablement comes only from God himself, therefore we cannot really fathom or put it in a box and study it. we learn them to be true through confirmations of people or events which prove the prediction right based on another man’s dream :) i know for a fact of a man who dreamed about saddam hussein being dead based on his blog which i read few months before saddam hanged http://www.prophet.org/forums/viewtopic.php?topic_view=threads&p=2073&t=982 :)

Sometimes, it depends on the person, how well they know themselves, and how truly clairvoyant they are.

Yes I do. Most muslims believe in the “Istikhaara” the prayer before sleep to see what the future holds, this is normally done when a potential husband has approached a family to marry a girl. Often if you are religeous or have a phsychic gift (which some people do naturally) an indication is imminent.

I once dreamt of my sisters wedding, there was a lot of speculation, the family hated the guy, I was young and never really understood any of what was going on. Its the only dream that I can never forget. It was a silent wedding (no music) it was a large hall with the appearance of a church in the end. There was a white coffin near the stainglassed windows. I could not see the groom’s face. Everyone was saying their goodbyes to my sister, for that day she was going to die after this wedding, I get chills everytime I remember this. Of course the marriage was a total failure, and the a$ $ hole was unbelievably and indescribably a psycho with no mercy, and yes he killed my sister theoretically (she has never been the same person since), I know its sad but true.

Once again- dreams, since ancient times, have been the most researched by almost every major civilization.

Religious texts such as the Holy Bible, Bhagwad Gita and others, speak of dreams seen by various characters that warned them of an impending disaster or happy event. The Chinese, Egyptians, Indians…all have tried to analyse and give reasons to different dreams- such as dark, murky water for bad luck, clear water means solving of a problem, snake meaning lust and so on.

Dreams are usually the display of subconscious thoughts and fears of a human, during the sleep. The brain, through dreams, also alerts us of any dangers when we are sleeping- through nightmares that wake us up, and of uncomfortable sleeping positions etc.

There are many instances of famous dreamers, the most prominent being Nostradamus and his vision or dream of the modern world- in which we now live. As usual, there is a lot of controversy surrounding these.

While there are no scientific basis to conclude positively or affirm that dreams can help predict the future, it is quite likely that some people have a unique gift through which they can actually see what can happen in future- either theirs or somebody else’s. There are no scientific explanations though most people have had at least one or more dream come true, in their life.
